Monday Made it 7/6

Linking up for the first time this summer for Monday Made It!

I made 13 of these for my team mate! I can not believe how easy these chair pockets are to make. She had a 60% off coupon for the fabric so it was 3.99 a yard! This is the tutorial I used to make them: http://hellomrssykes.blogspot.com/2012/09/chair-pocket-tutorial-easy-peasy-lemon.html .
We used duck cloth for the fabric to make them super sturdy and cut the fabric to be 17 inches by 42 inches to fit perfectly for our chairs.

Next I am super excited for my new clothes pins to hang student work up this year.

My room is done in pink, blue, and green with dog accents. I found these wood shapes at Michael's and knew they were perfect.

So with a little hot glue I have these ready to go in a few weeks!

How cute! They also have a ton of other shapes to go with any classroom theme!

Finally, not something I made, but I finally made up my mind. We are moving in 12 days and I really want a new bathroom set. I finally found the perfect one! This set was $15 at Wal-Mart!

Sunday Scoop

Have to do...
  1. Michael is suppose to go over 6 months for a check up from the heart doctor, it had been 8, so we are finally going on Tuesday. Everything has been fine, so I am not worried about this appointment. I am more glad to have something to do. Which leads me to..
  2. I have been on summer vacation since June 20, I was ready to go back to school on the 22nd. I am bored of sitting around with not much to do. I am enjoying it some, but I am for sure a person who was made to work.
  3. We are moving to a new apartment in 13 days!! I have packed what I can, we really only have the kitchen and our clothes to pack, and the last minute bathroom things. So now I am cleaning what I can, which honestly I have done 90% of already.

Hope to do...
  1. I love my dogs, I really do. However I hate that every morning between 6:30 and 7:00 they find a way to wake me up. I can never fall back asleep. It is summer I should be sleeping until 8:00!!
  2. I started watching Scandal on Netflix this weekend. I LOVE it! I will more likely than not finish it this week. Awesome show!
Happy to do...

Five For Friday

Honestly I have not been doing much since school got out. So first up my fur babies.

This is Drake sleeping in the small dog bed because he chewed up all the ones that were his size. For some reason he just loves this one.

This is Chen, he always has to be under a blanket and attached to me.

My BFF Teacher friend wanted 5 more chair pockets for her room this year, so becuase I can sew and I like to do this sort of thing I made them for her. With all the fabric she got (with a 60% off coupon) she got 13 of these:

I used duck cloth and this tutorial to make them.

I am moving in 15 days! I went to a used bookstore this week to see if they would buy any of the books and DVDs I had. I was expecting like $20. I walked out with $85 cash and $17 store credit! I also saw this on one of the shelves and it made me giggle.

As most teachers do, I LOVE the Target dollar spot!

I had my eye in this for a week before I actually got an idea as what to do with it. Then it hit me!
I am going to use this to hang up work students missed when they were absent. In the past I taped the paper to the board, half the time I couldn't find the tape. I think this is going to be perfect!

A friend posted this and it makes me giggle. If my dogs were saying this, they would also include all he squirrels they saved us from.

Hi there! (A post that turned into what I've been reading post)

So it has been a bit...

I looked back at all the previous post I've made, apparently I started this in April last year and had at least one post (if not more) monthly until February. I think that is pretty awesome. Then I realize o yeah it has been about 5 months and then I feel not as awesome.

Any-who, it is summer vacation! The kids were done June 4th and I was done June 19th. June 21st I was ready to go back. I know I should enjoy summer but I just love teaching, it really is who I am.

Even though I am ready to go back I have been relaxing and enjoying the pool and reading. This is what I have read so far:

Rereads:

New reads:

I can't put into words how much I love Walk Two Moons and Chasing Redbird. They are books that you just have to read and experience the feeling. I am now working on reading more of Creech's books. My teacher BFF knows how much I love the book and how I would love to teach it, she is helping me acquire a class set so that I can. We are hunting online and used book stores and thrift shops, we are up to I think 13 copies now. I just love her and how much she helps me!

Teachers Are Heroes Sale

I have been excited about the TpT sale since I got the e-mail saying there was going to be one! I of course had my fingers crossed that Speech Room News would have the What's in your cart linky!

First let me show you a few of my personal products I have created (click on the picture to go to the product!):

And here is a link to my entire store:

Now here are the things on my list to buy Wednesday during the big sale!

As always I must buy something from Teaching With a Mountain View:

Her math projects are AWESOME!! I love them and she has started creating ELA projects as well. I have already used her sequencing one and in the upcoming week we're using her inferencing one. All of her task cards are amazing, and I am sure that the Analyzing First and Secondhand Accounts and Multi-Part Math Problem task cards will be no different. I love all of her stuff!

There are other AWESOME sellers beside Teaching With a Mountain View, here are a couple I will be purchasing Wednesday as well:

I love these Tri-Folds and with us starting Fractions next week, the sale time is perfect! The best part is that there are 3 different tri-folds for each standard! She does also have a third grade set!

Finally some more poke cards! I love FlapJack's poke cards (and they have inspired me to make some of my own). I just finished my measurement unit, but these will be great for next year and end of year review!

Slacker

Well I am a slacker and have been ignoring this blog. So here is a hodge podge of what has been going on!

MY FIRST DONOR'S CHOOSE PROJECT WAS FUNDED!!
I received enough money for four tablets and cases at the beginning of February, within 3 days the cases arrived! However, DC is saying my tablets are not available and they are working on a replacement. So I am super excited the money came through, now if only the tablets would be here too!

I saw this division with post-its and decided to try it with my fourth graders because some of them just thought I was crazy when talking about long division. I have to say it did really help some of my kiddos! I am proud to say that all 21 of my kiddos can do long division (maybe not perfectly, but they can do it)!!

Then I got this for Valentine's Day from one of my kiddos I had last year:
I may have cried a little.

Finally, if you don't go to Michael's to buy stickers, you need to start. For 85 cents (if you use your teacher ID) you get a ton of adorable stickers.

Baby bees sleeping in flowers = too cute
Jungle animals = adorable ( minus the snakes)
Owls with glasses! = OMG

These are just the ones I got today, they always have seasonal ones and they are all adorable and awesome when grading papers!
