Five for Friday 6/20

Yesterday was my first official day of summer vacation and this is what I did for half the day. It was amazing!

In the evening I got lucky enough to watch like 4mula Fun's All Things Interactive Notebook Webinar. AMAZING!!! I learned so much and got some great ideas to use next year!! There were some technacal issues, but it was worked through and you can see it on youtube now. Part 1 and Part 2! I do plan on blogging about what I learned sometime soon, but you all should watch her!!!

This is my craft room, or as my teammates and I have nick named it: my crap room.
My charter school is in the process of expanding and we were in a temporary space for the 2013-2014 school year. Starting in August we will be in our permanent home, but that means until then my school stuff had to go somewhere. It is a big old mess, but it has gotten better since this picture. I hope to have it all cleaned/organized before school starts.

And now some pictures of my family that I am excited to be spending lots of time with for my first summer vacation as a teacher!

Dollar Tree
Today I am going to Denny's! On your birthday they give you a free grad slam, and today just happens to be my birthday! After my free meal with the Hubs, going to the Dollar Tree. The Dollar Tree by this Denny's is AMAZING!!! It is HUGE and has everything you see on their website, but you don't have to order it because it is all there!!!!!

Positive Thinking Thursday 6/19/14

Trying to get back into the groove of things and linking up with Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for Positive Thinking Thursday!!

Yes, it has.

I am sure I am not the only one who needs this reminder every now and then. This week was one of them. My husband has heart problems, and he is on medicine that helps control it and has controlled it for at least two years now. Tuesday he texted me while I was at school for a teacher work day saying he was in SVT. I left and took him to hte hospital, his heart rate was up to 165. It wasn't the first time this has happened/I saw it, but doesn't make it easier. The nurses went to get the medicine to make his heart rate go back down, and all of a sudden his heart decided to go back to normal. Very thankful it did and he is okay, but in those moments it is terrifying. But I know this struggle along with others past and to come will help me continue to be the person I am.

An Update

Well I have been pretty busy and not doing any blogging. But, today was my last day of teacher work days, which means I did make it through my first year teaching!

Last week we met the new member for our 4th grade team (my school is a charter school that is expanding). She was a first grade teacher this year at my school, but the younger grades just aren't for her. She's pretty awesome and wicked excited about interactive notebooks and science weekly five! Today we also found out there is actually going to be 6 fourth grade rooms. We know nothing about this person other than they have been hired. I just hope she fits in with us. I had an AMAZING team this year and we get along AMAZINGLY, I don't want anyone to mess it up.

I have been doing some thinking/planning for next year and I just can not wait to go back (I've been on summer vacation for all of 4 hours)! I decided I am going to try out some brag tags this year after reading a bunch of other blogs about them and their effectiveness. I wish I had tons of money to buy some, but I don't, so I am going to make them myself!

Other than that my summer will be full of sleeping, reading, and watching TV!

Summer Reading List Linky

It's 2AM here and I am wide awake for no reason, so what better time to link up with Funky in Fourth's summer read linky!

I have already started Guided Math (2 chapters left!). I am in love, and I just don't know why I hadn't heard of this sooner. It just makes sense. I can not wait until next school year to implement!

I haven't started Notice and Note but I am very excited to get more knowledge about close reading. I started trying close reading at the end of this year, but I know I can do so much better!

 and

My grade level texts/young adult novels are what I enjoy reading for fun. I am very lucky to live near a Scholastic Warehouse and went to their big sale a few weeks ago. I spent way too much money but I got a TON of books, cheap.

Homesick

I love love love teaching and I know that I am exactly where I should be. But, I miss my friends and family, a lot right now. I think more so because Friday was my last day with the kids, which was beyond emotional and now that I don't have papers to grade or lessons to make I have time to think. I wish I could take the two places and smush them together or closer to an hour drive instead of 12.

SLANT Box

I have been meaning/trying to type this post for over a week now. But, we had EOGs and then I got a cold that kicked my bottom. Anywho, here is my first SLANT box reveal! This was such a great experience and I can not wait to do it again!

I was teamed up with Emily from Style Closet to Classroom!
She did such an amazing job!

First a super cute mason jar with my name!! I am thinking candy jar for next year! Then my favorite part of the box is that 31 caddy. I have been thinking about ordering one for a long time now to use for guided reading materials for next school year. Now I don't have to!!!!! I didn't even tell her about my love for 31 and wanting this caddy!

Next up: Pink and glitter nail polishes (using the next time I do my toes, I got these right after I did my toes in pink and glitter). Adorable eyeglass case, wonderful lotion, magnetic notepad(can NEVER have enough notepads). And a super cute cup that I dropped the second I took it out of the box, thankfully it didn't crack!

Last: Notebook with my initial on it, already using it to take notes while I read my first book of the summer (even though summer for me doesn't start until the 21st).
An AWESOME picture frame. Look at it!!! Those are my dogs, but this will be on my desk in August with this picture:

This was such a great box, Emily really got me. I will totally be doing SLANT box in the future and you should to. Go here for information!
