Five for Friday

I forgot how exhausting and busy back to school is! But now it is time to ink up with Doodle Bugs for Five for Friday!

fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]

Teachers went back to school August 11, and the kids came in today!!!! I have ha so much fun setting up my classroom and meeting the kids!

I saw this at Kohls, love it!

This is what my room looked like last Friday:

I have to take pictures on Monday of the basically finished product.

Rant moment: I hate people who don't go the speed limit. I also hate people who don't use their turn signal! This is why I live so close to school, cannot stand being on the road with these idiots.
*End Rant*

Best feeling of the week:
Having my students from last year run up to me and give me big hugs and tell me the missed me! I love having my babies back where I can see them all the time!

Back to School First Day Procedures Hop

In college we were told a million times teach procedures before anything else!
So welcome to stop #2 on the school procedures hop!!!

It's all fine and dandy to be told that is what you have to do, but how do you make it fun for them, while still keeping yourself in check?

That is something I had asked myself and at the beginning of last year, I did the normal go over the rules and practice. Throughout the year though I kept thinking to myself I did not do the best job I could at teaching the rules and procedures as I could have. I also knew I forgot a bunch of procedures I never taught. Of course I do teach fourth grade, so the kids deep down do know the basics of what is expected of them.

This year though I promised myself I would do better, but how?

Earlier this summer as I was enjoying browsing TpT. I was mainly looking at task cards, because I am in love with them <3.

That's when it hit me! Teach procedures with task cards and scoot! So I set out to work to create my own task cards for teaching procedures.

Simple, but cute and will help us review the classroom procedures and expectations.

My plan is to first go over the expectations in the typical ways, practicing with role playing the correct and incorrect way to do things. I will use the task cards to help myself in making sure I remember to teach all of them. Then we will play scoot!

The great thing is alter in the year when we're having a hard time remembering how fourth graders should act, I can whip these out and play a game to remember our expectations.

If you would like these task cards you can find them as a freebie in my store: http://www.teacherspayteachers.com/Product/Rules-Scoot-1377363

Now hop on over to check out some other back to school procedures ideas!

First Week Back: Peek at my Week!

Excited to link up with Mrs. Laffin for a Peek at my Week, because I go back to school tomorrow!!!

Tomorrow at 8AM my second year of teaching starts! I am so excited to get back, set up my new classroom, meet my new kids!

Monday we have meetings in the morning, and then insurance like meetings in the afternoon. From 10 to 1 we're suppose to be able to work in our rooms, however we don't know if our building is ready. My charter school is expanding and we are moving into our permanent home this year. Cross your fingers we can start moving in Monday!

Then the rest of the week is filled with meetings, curriculum planning, and hopefully making my classroom beautiful!

In the expansion we are adding two teammates to the group. We have already meet, hung out, and love one member who is moving up from first to fourth with us (check her out here!). Tomorrow though we meet the last member of our group!

Five for Friday!

Time for my last Five for Friday of summer!!!
fiveforfriday2_thumb[3]
This past weekend my husband was complaining of pain in his stomach area on the left side. He is not the type to really complain so Monday morning we called the doctor and got in. He had a CT scan and blood work. Blood work came back fine, but the doctor said she saw fat pockets on the scan and referred him to a GI doctor. We go see them today, hopefully it is a quick and easy fix.

Wednesday I went to a NC TpTers meet up! It was so much fun meeting teachers and learning from them! I can not wait to do it again, hopefully in October!

I have been looking at all the dollar stores for those post-its! I finally found them when I went shopping before the meet up! So excited!!!

That glue stick I also found at Walmart before the meet up. FIVE CENTS!!!

Yesterday was our last trip of the summer to the dog park :(
That huge dog was TERRIFIED of my little wiener dog.

Yesterday was also Drake's Birthday! A year ago yesterday I went to Michael's for school supplies and came home with my baby!

First walk with daddy:

Happy Birthday Drake!
But first, let me take a selfie:

Monday Made It 8/4

This is my last Monday Made It before I go back to school!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I can not wait to start back and set up my room!

First I finally finished my toolbox! It has been spray painted for a while, I just didn't feel like making labels.

I painted my clothes pins! I cannot remember why I wanted 3 sets, but I did make them. I am hoping once I get into my room I will remember what I was thinking.

My school's rules to be posted in my room. I spray painted dollar store frames to be completely black, I wasn't feeling the silver strip.

I forgot where I found these super cute reward buttons, but I printed them and my husband cut them out for me because they're circles and I have a hard enough time cutting straight lines.

He was then sweet enough to pose with it on for me! After calling me a nerd of course.

And my final one! I really don't mind putting laundry in the washer and dryer. BUT folding it and putting it away, is the WORST. Hence my closet:

The dogs watching me.

What it looks like now!

My husband gives it a week. I do too
