A Peek at My Week!

I am linking up with Mrs. Laffin's Laughings for my first linky!

This week we are working on poetry using some AMAZING resources from TpT. Last week we were using I'm Lovin' Lit's interactive poetry notebook! I just love all of her poetry notebooks! The kids really love them too, cutting and pasting while getting some extra time to talk to each other is amazing in their books. This week we will finish up the pages we didn't get to yet and then moving on to poetry centers. We use Reading A-Z to read two of their poetry books: How Long? and Why Do I Care? How Long? is about measurement, something my 4th graders need more help with. Why Do I Care? has different poems on the different school subjects and explains why they are all important.

Thankfully in math we have covered all of the standards! Now it is review time. My students have a really hard time with division, so that will be the first thing we hit. We will be using Movie Madness from Teaching with a Mountain View and other division centers from a kit we have in our school from Lakeshore Learning.

In Social Studies we are beginning our biography reports. The students had to get a book on any famous person of their choice. This week we will be reading our books in class. In science we are working on learning about the moon. We will be using Jessica Scott's Phases of the Moon Interactive Notebook. Can I just say thank God there I found her because she covers all of the NC science standards!

What do you have planned this week? Link up with Mrs. Laffin's Laughings too!

  2. Hi Mandee! I teach 4th grade too and am always excited to find other 4th grade teachers to follow. I also want to work on brushing up my 4th graders' long division skills to make sure they've got it down before 5th grade. I'll have to check out that Movie Madness product. Thanks for sharing!

    1. I wish kids didn't struggle with it so much! It really is easy. My kids love to over think things. I have used the Breaking up the Bakery that teaching with a mountain view has. She has so many amazing resources.
